Walhalla Police Department Applications

The Walhalla Police Department is opening its doors to new applications! At the present time, the position they’re looking to fill is Police Officer. The position is full-time.

For those who are interested and may have any questions, it is advised to contact the office. You can do so by dialing 864-638-5831. You can also reach them via fax at 864-638-4356. The proud officers of the Walhalla Police Department will be glad to entertain suitable applicants.

Lake Keowee Rainbow

With all things, even a terrible storm, beauty can be found! A lovely scene of a formation of seemingly stormy rain clouds along with a bright rainbow was spotted near Walhalla, South Carolina. Pilot Frank McCutcheon Jr, was flying in the northern sphere of Lake Keowee when he spotted the rare spot.

He managed to snap up a quite photo before the scene dissipated. It goes to show that pilots do have fast reflexes! If you have any such photos, send them in as submissions and we’d love to feature them.

Sweepstakes Scams

It would be in everyone’s best interest to be discerning about any information you receive about potentially winning a lot of money. It is a reality of life that it is entirely plausible that our citizens take part in sweepstake draws. This can make it hard to really tell if the phone call you get is legitimate or not.

An easy way to spot if the notification is a scam is if they require your personal and banking information immediately. The usual scam is requiring the “winner” to open up a bank account and wire some money as a “processing fee”. Times aren’t as easy and there are pretty terrible people out there. Protect yourself and those around you by being aware of the latest scams and cons in the area.

The Sheriff’s Office would like for citizens to be mindful of getting any ‘notifications’ that they’ve won anything.

Walhalla’s New Fire Chief

As of early February this year, Walhalla Fire Department has a new Fire Chief! They’ve chosen Brandon Burton as the new Fire Chief.

Burton will succeed Doug Kelley. Kelley has served as Fire Chief for 28 years. Burton will have under his command 10 paid firefighters and at least 33 citizen volunteers. Good luck to you, Chief Burton!

Students Bag National Attention

Undergraduate Clemson students have taken the artistic stage with their visionary design. Their handmade piece was developed as a final project for their industry-related research project. The project was under the course “Composites Manufacturing for Architectural Applications”.
